In this webinar, Dr Howie Harshaw will introduce the concept of "human dimensions" and how it relates to the management of wildlife, and can inform our understandings, and management, of human-wildlife interactions. He will also summarize some of the challenges of managing invasive species, like goldfish and wild boar, and ways that incorporating people's perspectives may help to achieve invasive species management goals.
Dr. Harshaw is a professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation at the University of Alberta. He has degrees from Lakehead University and received his Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia. Howie integrates social science into the planning and management of wildlife and natural resources, and has worked regularly in interdisciplinary teams to provide theoretically-based empirical research contributions to broader landscape-based projects examining sustainability and conservation issues.
